The Maybach is indeed a great car, but in my honest opinion, it lacks a general sense of occassion. Having said that, it's between the Rolls Royce and the Bentley for myself.

The Arnage is undoubtedly tempting, but the Phantom...is just wonderful. Roller it is.

Definitely the Rolls, followed by Maybach
Style & Presence.
Bentley's design seems outdated.

Re: Ultra Luxury Battle! (RR, Bentley, Maybach)

To this day I still hate the fact that BMW owns Rolls-Royce. It really just does something in my insides. But that just a personal issue.

The Maybach has everything you could ever desire in the car AND NO ONE CAN DISAGREE. The styling is probably is what has hurt this car. When it came out I thought it was fine. Then Rolls-Royce came out with the Mac Truck grill and it got notice much more then Rolls.

I'm really looking forward to the next Generation model (2012??). I just hope they distance themselves from the MB designs (Of course there is nothing wrong with Benz design, but maybach should be seen as a different brand.

The Bentley might be old, but it still has a glorious look to it. Seen a Black Arnage T and it was amazing.

Now because I am Thee HighestOfHigh and I always must be noticed as a Superior Human being I would pick the Rolls-Royce.

Bentley would be second and Maybach third. Ugh I hate to put Benz at the bottom, but this one belongs to the Rolls-Royce. The history alone is amazing.

It is a great car atuv ......but, as I wondered before, does the S65 not also offer everything the 57S does?

IMO, DCX missed the whole point of this market segment with the Maybach -- it succeeds in every area except in the ones where Rolls and Bentley excel -- inspiration, heritage, and culture.

I know you (and others) will tell me that the Maybach has history and heritage ....and that is true -- but where is that history and heritage expressed anywhere in the vehicles? -- you can't expect a car to have a culture simply by summarizing the history of the brand name in a flood of press-releases.

There will always be people who will buy a car like the Maybach simply because it is so exclusive -- it is an obvious status symbol. But beyond that, the Maybach offers very little more than other high-end luxury cars which cost a lot less -- most notably, the Bentley Flying Spur.

LOL that's so true. But DCX was a basket case at the time.

Re: Ultra Luxury Battle! (RR, Bentley, Maybach)

^^yeah, it was.

Let's be honest here, the Maybach would most likely have been a great deal more successful if it had been a Mercedes-Benz + if it didn't look so much like a bloated Lincoln or something.

Rolls royce gots too much wood in the Interior... betly couldve done alot more... the Maybach prob best intrior.. but looks the same as an S-class from the Inside.. i think the 08' C class has a better interior ?

Re: Ultra Luxury Battle! (RR, Bentley, Maybach)

The Maybach maybe a great car, but is it worth the money, specially when an S class will do just as well ? Compared to it, the Rolls just stands out. I think there is little competition at this level. Looks and presence make a difference regardless of however good the engine or the chasis is.

The RR makes eyes turn remiding people how special it is. The Maybach in turn is just plain vanilla in comparison.

Re: Ultra Luxury Battle! (RR, Bentley, Maybach)

I really think Mercedes has boxed Maybach into an impossible corner with the world-beating S-Class. How can they possibly top that car anytime soon? It would take a total redesing of the Maybach and that simply isn't happening anytime soon. Though Mercedes is back in the money, Maybach has never contributed to this and thus won't get any major financial backing which is what a redesign would call for. If Mercedes does produce this Ocean Drive as a Mercedes you can forget about Maybach.
