Re: EVO: RS4 vs M3 V8 (including C63 review)

Could you post some reviews?Which car is better?Apparently the M3 because it is a newer car but there mustnt be many differences. The proper test would be RS5 v new M3.

Re: EVO: RS4 vs M3 V8 (including C63 review)

That was an extremely honest review of both cars, which is why I rate EVO highly. But in the end, it's kind of the conclusion that we all expected. M3 more of a driver's car, RS4 better in other situations. I really agree with this line: "A narrow points decision then, and a far cry from the walkover BMW enjoyed with the E46 M3"

THe car market has just gotten that competitive. I don't ever really expect to see a walkover in any category from the big 3 from now on.

So true. The margin is smaller than ever.

And it's BMW's stupid fault.

The made the once light M3 into a fat pig. Now it's the M3 that is heavier than the Audi, despite no AWD.

Unbelivable but true.

Just imagine a 150 to 200 Kg lighter car with real proper brakes of Carbon, a semi-automatic transmission and active suspensions as standard.
And a visible flexi wing spoiler in the back for downforce.

Sorry but with the same standard package (configuration) the old m3 e46 was and is only 84 kg (185 lbs) lighter. So to say that this is a pig is too much in my opinion.Thgere are 77 hp more by the way.

MY POINT OF VIEW:

Official empty weight at 3.386lb!!
Hi, after taking a close look to my Italian official brochure of the new M3,and after I sew many speculations about the true empty weight I would like to share with you in this my first post, what I know.. I have seen many posts talking about a true weight of more than 3500 lbs, but to me this doesn't seem true. Probably this was already discussed and clarified, but in any case I tell you what I read in my brochure. These are official numbers since the car will be officially shown for the first time on 08 September (on showrooms) and many days before she will be available for people like me that ordered one (for officiAL TESTS...)

so...:

empty weight
1655 kg EU 3.645 lbs
inclused:
68 kg for pilot 149,7 lbs
7 kg for baggage 15,4 lbs
90% of fuel 93,6 lbs

final empty weight:

1.537,4kg
3.386 lbs

Interesting is that using the same system you can compare the e46 weights:

empty weight :
1.570 kg
3.458 lbs

final weight after detractions:

1.452,4 kg
3.199 lbs

Final difference between the two cars according to these numbers:
84,6 kg
186 lbs.

This is the weight of one person but with 77 hp more.
Are all of us able to feel a so big difference in performance when we run alone or with one our friend on board on our sport car?
So, this is the true difference between the two cars. One person (his weight)..but with much more hp available.

bye
