Karma given, Savage-It. That put's things nicely into perspective again!
Also, mind that the RS4 is not using empty weight. They don't count the 90% fual tank, 7 kg luggage and 68 kg driver. Mercedes doesn't either. | | | | | Banned

I gave up on trying to read the article, but from what I gathered the RS4 feels more special from inside the cockpit, and it's exterior design is more visually appealing then the M3! | | | | | Aficionado

The cockpit of the A4/RS4 is old, and way out of time with all it's buttons and whatnot. I don't like it anymore. Give me the modern clean BMW look of the M3
Sure, the quality of the RS4 is a-ok, but the design and functionality is dated imo...
The exterior design is of course more subejective, and if you like the RS4 more than there is not much I can do about that huh | | | | | Aficionado

Hi, after taking a close look to my Italian official brochure of the new M3,and after I sew many speculations about the true empty weight I would like to share with you in this my first post, what I know.. I have seen many posts talking about a true weight of more than 3500 lbs, but to me this doesn't seem true. Probably this was already discussed and clarified, but in any case I tell you what I read in my brochure. These are official numbers since the car will be officially shown for the first time on 08 September (on showrooms) and many days before she will be available for people like me that ordered one (for officiAL TESTS...)
so...:
empty weight
1655 kg EU 3.645 lbs
inclused:
68 kg for pilot 149,7 lbs
7 kg for baggage 15,4 lbs
90% of fuel 93,6 lbs
final empty weight:
1.537,4kg
3.386 lbs
Interesting is that using the same system you can compare the e46 weights:
empty weight :
1.570 kg
3.458 lbs
final weight after detractions:
1.452,4 kg
3.199 lbs
Final difference between the two cars according to these numbers:
84,6 kg
186 lbs.
This is the weight of one person but with 77 hp more.
Are all of us able to feel a so big difference in performance when we run alone or with one our friend on board on our sport car?
So, this is the true difference between the two cars. One person (his weight)..but with much more hp available.
bye |
Thank you.
But it's still too much weight.
BMW promised weight saving and brought and even heavier car.
Too much luxo-comfort-safety-green?!-satnav-stereo/all rounder nonsense instead of an M3 car.
BMW simply want sales. | | | | | Junior Member

IN MY OPINION THE RS4 HAD THE BIG ADVANTAGE OF THE 19"WHEELS.PUT THE SAME DIMENSION ON THE M3 AND IT WILL LOOK MUCH BETTER...AND MUCH AGGRESSIVE | | | | | Banned

It's a damn shame the critics feel the new M3's a bore in the looks department, with all the time they had this is the best they could come up with?! It outperforms the dated RS4 by the slimmest of margins! Did BMW know that Audi was coming out with a new RS4 which would perform even better than the current one? | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to RICHBOY For This Useful Post: | | | Expert

The exterior design is of course more subejective, and if you like the RS4 more than there is not much I can do about that huh | The design it far from outdated. It's a very well designed and good looking interior. Some people wants buttons to some functions or the car to be easily accessible rather than having to navigate an annoying iDrive. Then again the current A4 does have quite some years on it's neck and the new model will off course have less buttons like the A5.
Personally I find the RS4 interior to be way more better looking compared with the C63 and M3 which have rather non inspiring looking interiors. Just look at the official pictures. | | | | | The Following 4 Users Say Thank You to Centurion For This Useful Post: | | | Global Moderator

I'm warming up on the new M3. I always liked the look on the standard 3er E92. The standard E92 Coupé is one of the best looking cars on the streets. I doubt I'm going to be disappointed when I see the new M3 live.
My biggest concern about the new M3 was that the M3 wouldn't be the drivers tool anymore but it seems the new M3 is still on the top although the differences has become smaller than ever, the new M3 still appear to have the edge. While its a relief for now, I will probably go crazy again after the comparisons with C63 AMG when it turns out that C63 will be the drivers car
PS, I still dislike BMW for not offering semi-R-tires for the M3 (it would improve the handling a lot) just like Audi and Mercedes are doing for the RS4 and C63. Also I don't like the idea that the M3 V8 is "only" getting 420hp. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | |
