Guys you have to remember that controversial-pompus statements sell issues. Everyone will want to read the issue where the sub 20k euro Ford beats the over 30k euro worth BMW (like that it's possible , give me a break).

Im still wondering what "better drive" means. They just claiming this on the cover but inside there is nothing. Of course they put in on the cover to create a intrests but people will be disappointed once they read the whole article. I know I was. The headline is striking but not the inside material. Too bad they dont even mention laptimes,slalomspeeds or which is more fun to drive.

I havent driven the new Mondeo but I somehow doubt its a better drive than 3-series and the C-class. I want to hear more opinions. Time will tell.

I agree with you here. Maybe a few more reviews and actual comparisons from other magazines but gee, it makes you wnder though!!

I remember the Autocar 3 series review back in 2005 which stopped short of mentioning something to the effect that this is the best car in the world. They loved the 3 series ! In fact Jeremy Clarkson and the guys at Top Gear always had something against BMW. The Top Gear TV review of the 3 series kept on mentioning the Mondeo every 10 seconds through the review..

I really don't understand how Autocar is making such a strong statement here. Personally, I used to own a Mondeo before my current E90 and there is a world of difference in every aspect. The Mondeo is a great car but not good enough to beat the 3 series. ...maybe the new Mondeo is truly a miracle...

Which isn't. I think that all this is just about marketing (more sales)
There is no way that a company like Ford which competes (Mondeo) in the affordable family car segment can compete with the 3 series, the benchmark when it comes to driving in the family car segment. That is impossible.

I don't really belive this crap.

The Ford Mondeo is probably the better family car, but I just can't see it beating the BMW in driving dynamics.

Either way, don't trust these reviews. I agree with Eni. The British editors here are just being patriotic.

Ford models are very popular in Germany ... In every segment (considering non-premium brands only) ... Fiesta, Focus, Mondeo, ... Usually sales are just behind VW & Opel (or even sometimes surpassing Opel), than followed by Skoda, Renault, PSA etc.

New Mondeo will be very popular. It is a better value for money than Passat, more fun to drive, more excitingly styled etc

But IMO new Opel Vectra will be a the winner in this segment. Styling will be very fresh, new chassis will be very capable, quality / reliability will be improved, price will be right ...

Passat is still the best car on the segment and the best seller in Germany. Mondeo seems like a good car but i 'm sure that Ford did again what they are very good at....

Why compare a mondeo to a 3er or any other premieum cars? I see the mondeo more of a Honda Accord/Toyota Camry competitor, in which case it beats both of them (at least in looks). I think ford is pretty f__king stupid for not brining the Mondeo to the US yet giving us the POS Fusion and Taurus.
