![]() | Re: Super SUV Test: ML63 Versus THE REST!!! Great SUV's to have! V8 or TDI is a must (depends on the car). But, I think 5 sec acceleration is the last thing that a Jeep would need, you know, it should concentrate as a purposeful 4wd or maybe spending more effort on the "macho" appeal. It's almost the same case with "Made in Australia" Ford performance SUV, these cars are impressively fast, but there is no comparison against its European rivals' knowhow. Only one explanation left (pioneered by BMW), 4WD market is yesterday's story, Fast SUV market is going strong! Magazines and editors might compare them to each other, but they were designed with different ideals in mind - and different customers as well. These arguments about which SUV is "better" are silly and childish. ![]()

I know people that own both ML and X5 as well, some went for X5, others went for the ML. That's Fortune opinion, obvious everyone dont agree with him cause then everyone would buy the ML. Simply as that.

In my opinion the ML is the better sport utility vehicle when comparing non-performance (read AMG) oriented models. In fairness, BMW haven't shown the X5 M-derivative so we're not comparing apples with apples. The ML63 is severly compromised off tarmac whereas standard MLs are actually quite adept at handling the rough stuff. In this company it's down to two uber-SUVs: the Cayenne Turbo and the ML63. Heads or tails...

I disagree that the new ML is better than the new X5, aside from off road capabilities witch are of no importance to 90%+ of buyers. The new X5 is not a FL, it's a completly new car made to feel/resemble a FL. But platform, chassi, body panels, suspensions, etc. are all new.

ML for the track, Turbo for off road. Do they come with flexi wings, mass dampers and Co. ?! ![]() I feel that the should have been different, rear or mid-rear engined to stay true to its Porsche-ness.
