I choose CLK63 and I also buy a second car, a more comfortable and practical car than the CLK63 BS but never a CL63 on my backyard.
Sure the CLK63 is more involving, has stiffer suspension and more agile and on a track of twisty roads there aren't even any comparison between them. But the question is how often do people drive on twisty mountain roads or do slalom at 70% allowing them to really take advantage of a rack monster? Not that often. Personally I rather own a car which I can enjoy effortlessly while driving normal than owning one which requires me to drive it fast in the bends to really take advantage of it. There are big sedans out there which gives you the same pleasure as an M3 while driving like a normal guy.
I was even told by a sales guy at an MB dealer that the S-class handles much better than what people think it does, heck he even surprised me with an E500 with air suspension which turned out to be more fan to drive than what I expected.

then you should forget about Porsches and buy a BMW 550i since you get the same pleasure when driving like a normal guy. Oh wait a minute, maybe you should buy a Volvo instead afterall the speedlimit is only 110km/h, a 500hp car is so pointless so save some cash and drive safe instead .

No you don't. A Cayman and a 911 are not like the average car. They have the engines in different places and offer a unique experience. I have yet to drive one though.

for the average guy you will have the same fun with Porsche until you explore the car for real. Same case as a E500 vs M3, when you really try them out first then you will know the differences, a 15 minute testdrive wont tell you much. You can say the same about M3 E46 vs 996 Carrera, for the average guy you can have equally fun in both cars, its not heaven and hell differences.

Goddamn Luw, I thought you were a sportcarfan but now you sound like someone who likes to cruise.

makes me really think that AMG´s should be the fastest cars in everyday situation looked to allround..
they often kill the competition straight forward..and the few corners that you hit on normal roads they can take without a problem..

so i guess even if some cars have better lap times than AMG´s.. i belive they are amongst the fastest cars out on the roads..as far as all non track driving goes..

Don't worry just_me, I'm still fan of sports cars. And there is really no point in bringing Porsche and the 911 into the discussion since it clearly offers something the 911 which is beyond what any car out there can offer. The 911 haven't existed in 60 years because it's like the average car.
In Sweden cars like the M3 works fine but here in Cali the roads are just awful. They are so terrible that I wouldn't buy a GT3 or M3 unless i could afford a second car. In a sports car just feel just a bout every single little bump on the road. Test driving different cars I have learned that a car doesn't have to have stiff suspension in order to be sporty or enjoyable. Direct steering and a relatively medium suspension setting is enough. Off course I prefer perfectly composed car too and I have yet to drive the Boxter, TT and S4.

I notice you mention GT3, a standard 911 Carrera is no different from a Gt3 or M3.
oh Luw, you are still a swede and as far as I know your main country is Sweden so there is still a chance you will own a proper sportcar one time in your life

and yes sure a BMW 335i works fine for the majority of the population but as long as you are young, a car with stiff suspension is no problem, therefore a M3 works fine for me. There is no replacement for a proper sportcar and yes I live in Sweden, a country with proper roads
