Re: WR: C350 AMG Pkg vs 330i M Sport

amazingly beautiful photos..
im glad BMW sent an M package 3er.. so there wont be any more bitching..
the result to me is the same..the C looks so much better in those pics..
its almost funny..
belive me ive never held a C class over a 3er.. cause previously it wasent possible.. but now i feel a change is coming..
the darn thing even looks more sporty.. for those who like that

this line says it all:
Quote:
Mercedes is now bridging the sports gap to the 3-series a little better than BMW is bridging the luxury gap to the new C-class

who won the competition? Anyway, im still T-O'd that they didnt use the N54 in any of these-that would be a major butt wooopin...
Sry merc, its still the 3series game.

Re: WR: C350 AMG Pkg vs 330i M Sport

Why an American magazine is testing 330i which even isn't available in US anymore?????

335i with Sport Package will be more appropriate competitor regarding US market.

Also: European 330i is getting new N53 HPI engine with 272HP / 320Nm in September.

And some other upgrades ...

PS: A quote from the article: " ... BMW NA is reportedly closer to bringing over the full M Sport treatment as well as the stronger, more efficient engines." Where does this journalist live? On the Moon? What about 335i ??? Which is already available in NA market (instead of 330i). And even with Sport package available.

Re: WR: C350 AMG Pkg vs 330i M Sport

I hate to say this but the article fail to deliver a message:
1.There is an N53 engine for the 330i since Q4 2006(if I am not mistaken) thus making the article pointless.
2.For North America, there has been a 335 with an N54 engine since Q4-2006 so it makes you wonder what the Author is actually trying to achieve.
3. The comparison is between a new MB and an old BMW that is no longer manufactured.

Re: WR: C350 AMG Pkg vs 330i M Sport

Would it be that the 330i has an output of 190kw vs the C350's 200kw (sorry for those who use bhp) that WR is not using the 335i which has 225kw?

Bearing in mind, the Merc is a bit heavier so the extra 10kw would probably make in even?? IMHO.

Mind that in US market BMW offer two 3er engine variants:
328i with N52 3.0L NA engine with 230hp (233PS)
335i with N54 3.0L bi-turbo with 300hp (306PS)

while MB will offer:
C 300 with 3.0L NA engine with 228hp (231PS)
C 350 with 3.5L NA engine with 268hp (272PS)

So its obvious C300 vs 328i, and C350 vs 335i in US market.

Regarding Euro 330i model: N53 3.0L HPI engine with 272PS (268hp) is coming into 330i in September (sedan, touring & coupe, while cabrio already features it). Not to forget other upgrades!

What else do you expect from Winding Road? They're only good for breaking news and pics, not roadtests.

Re: WR: C350 AMG Pkg vs 330i M Sport

Do you guys think MB will offer another C model - positioned between C350 & C63 AMG soon?

Eg. C400 or C500? Something with approx 350-380hp?

Or will introduce ~300hp C350 CGI in a year?

It is a bit ironic to offer a sports sedan with 268hp while all your main competitors are offering 300hp or more in their direct rival models (335i, IS350).
