I think the lower part of the rear seat can be removed when the car is optioned with foldable rear seats. You can see the hinge at the bottom of the seat.

This is the correct answer...but normally you don't have to remove the seat from it's fixation.

I don't know how it works for Mr. Bronke, but here in Canada BMW has better "garantie" than MB and we are getting much better service with BMW Canada (this is not only my opinion , I have two friends mechanics, one working for BMW and other for MB). Regarding price, bimers are about 20-25% less expensive then MB, in appearence 530i should got dubble pts. Resumming 530i is definely a big winner in Canada.

That's what I was going to say. BMW has a better maintenance program here in the US than MB and Audi. That's a very strong selling point for these cars.

In Sweden BMW offer free service for 3 years or up to 800000 km, thats generous and not offered from MB.
