I actually think Lexus philosophy is closer to that of MB than BMW;
Luxury-sports, but the difference is that Lexus is a low cost provider of Luxury-sports.

I have said this before and the Lexus people never like it when I say it, Lexus seems to be a cheaper version of Mercedes. It is only until recently with the IS that they have decided to attack BMW otherwise the LS,GS and SUV models were designed to challenge the S, E class and the SUV models of MB.
Just my opinion anyway.

I agree with you.

The Lexus IS however was always aimed at BMW from the start. Mercedes recently also targeted BMW when they refreshed the W203 C-Class. Seems like everyone is going for the benchmark in this class.
