Don't feel too unhappy.

I'm sure the NSX and the BMW CS will come back as soon as the global economy recovers.

I never like the new NSX anyway. It's a bloody Corvette.

Re: Another One Bites the Dust; Honda's NSX cancelled

Something of a shame, was looking foward to seeing it. I still can't understand how Honda/Acura could justify this car while Acura gets killed in the luxury market in both sales and name/prestige by not having neither a RWD or V8 sedan.

Absolutely agree with you. Fans of the old NSX appreciated the car for what it was; a latter day supercar baiter for relatively affordable money and one of the purest driving experiences around - or so I've come to believe.

This new NSX with V10 and all... not quite the same brief and perhaps a Honda board decision to make hay while the sun shines (as is so typical of a golden run on supercar sales in bouyant times).

As we've seen before, there will always be those who are late to the party because such downturns are sudden and abrupt.

I feel no sympathy for Honda. They've been mincing around outside of their weight division and forgotten what they're really about: compellingly good bang for buck. In my opinion. Honda CTR's with cost-cutting torsion-beam suspension and floaty, vague front ends - that's what we enthusiasts have to look forward to. I also find Honda's singular dismissal of turbocharging in any of their petrol engines to be backward-thinking.

I do feel sorry for Audi with its R8 V10 - a car I fear has come too late amidst this economic crisis. Pity, because I think it has what it takes to be one of the best cars in the world.

Re: Another One Bites the Dust; Honda's NSX cancelled

The only thing that separated the original mid-engined NSX from true supercar greatness was 60bhp. The mediocre engine output was always the car's weak point. The engine itself was a gem, it was the first VTEC engine from Honda.

I guess it's really the carpocalypse, every other manufacturer is getting bitten in the ass.

And its generic looks, IMO.

Re: Another One Bites the Dust; Honda's NSX cancelled

Mmm, maybe a bit harsh Marcus, I remember seeing the NSX for the first time as a teen and yes, while looks were perhaps a little mid-engined supecar derivative I wouldn't call the car generic per se...

Not disagreeing entirely but the NSX looks much better in the tin than it does in photos.

Re: Another One Bites the Dust; Honda's NSX cancelled

In a rare instance I'd have to disagree with you Martin. The NSX was born at a time when Ferraris were pretty, the 348 and then by the time the gorgeous 355 came around... The NSX by comparision was simply bland and forgettable, IMO.

Fair 'nuf mate!

But where the 348 may have been pretty it was also a rubbish Ferrari.
