If you think that Burj al Arab is the most expensive hotel you are wrong. The most expensive hotel is in fact Emirates Palace and here are some facts about it.

6 in the number of employees on per guest.
10 employees is the number of people working on polishing the chandellers.
12 dollar is the price for a cup of coffe.
20 kilos of gold covers the ceiling of the lobby.
45 is the number of golfcarts availible for the staff for tranportation outdoors and indoors since some of the corridors are 500meters
140 elevators are used to tranport lazy guest who don't want to take the stairs.
2600 is the number of employees
10 000 dollar is the price if you want sleep one night in the presidental suite.
3 000 000 is the number of square meters the interior of the hotel covers.
3.2 billion dollars is the money that has been spent on building the hotel.

I'm quite striked by the price of this hotel. While people living a several miles away from the hotel are staving, others are edulging themselves in extreme luxury.

In the middle east there are some people living on something like $3 000 per year while some people spend $10 000 in one single night. The contrast is so huge between these two worlds.

Although I'm shamed to be obssessed with this kind of luxury - the pictures are quite awesome.

That hotel is simply gorgeous!

But its sad that there is such luxury in such close proximity to many starving people.

That place looks like a palace!

What must the poor people living around it think of it?

Yeah the things that are being built there are are insane. Many hotels here only cost 1 million dollars to build and this one cost 3 billion dollar to build. That's more than what some countries' government get to spend in a whole year. The hotel is pretty sweet tough. I wouldn't mind getting picked up in a white phantom and being pampered like a baby.

Very big, very expensive, and very Las Vegas - I would much prefer to stay at the Paris Ritz, Raffles in Singapore, The Pininsula Hotel in Hong Kong, Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, or Claridge's in London - somehow, in spite of costing three billion dollars, this mega-hotel doesn't have any real class IMO.

Re: The world's most expensive hotel - 10-07-2005, 02:58 PM

Yeah rnds, I think I know what you mean. Some of the hotels in dubai are extremly luxurious but they don't have the elegant touch like some other hotels do. It seem like the production manager simply wanted to build the most expensive, biggest and most flashy hotel on the planet.

I'm not saying that I wouldn't mind chilling in the presidental suite but the this hotel don't have the elegance of British or italian hotels. It is obvious that some hotels have different ways of approaching ultimate luxury. This hotel is more of a MM while the Paris Ritz is a Bentley Arnage.
