I'm not saying that I wouldn't mind chilling in the presidental suite but the this hotel don't have the elegance of British or italian hotels. It is obvious that some hotels have different ways of approaching ultimate luxury. This hotel is more of a MM while the Paris Ritz is a Bentley Arnage.
Luwalira, you understand perfectly what I was getting at. Don't get me wrong, this hotel is magnificent, I'm sure many people would far prefer it to a more traditional European style hotel - it seems the people in the UAE take a more American approach to their idea of luxury.

I guess that's no different to many other places in the world - even in New York, people pay thousands of dollars to stay at a top Manhattan Hotel while homeless people in Central Park rummage through garbage bins looking for a meal.

OMG, you took that right out of my mouth, they are really tinking like the americans. Dubai is seem to be very preoccupied with competing with the west. Everything they construct has got to be the most expensive, largest and best. They should be careful not to ball with too many projects at the sametime. I'm afraid that can lead to an economic collapse.

Very true RNDS, I see that everyday. But it's not only Dubai or New York, it's everywhere. It's sad, but true.

Okay first of all this is not in Dubai, this is in Abu Dhabi the capital of the UAE.
Second, what's with all the homeless talk and such, now the Middle East is something and the UAE is something else, a completely different story. There is no homeless or starving people around the hotel or in the UAE "from where did u get such info, Luwalira" yes there is poor people but not to the extend of starving and being homeless, u don't see people on the streets here ever. Thank God for this first and to the former Ruler of the UAE.
maybe your talking about the Middle East as a whole but I'll tell u this all the poverty and homeless people in the area is due to the problems going on in their countries "I don't want to go in to details, politics lol" anyways as I am rnds said you find this everywhere but in some parts of the middle east its very popular although their countries are very rich in terms of natural resources.

I feel particularly sorry for the poor of Monaco, who have to suffer the daily indignity of driving around in mid-range Mercedes-Benzes and live in houses furnished in production-line Italian furniture - God it must be hell.
