Prices released for new VW Eos

Volkswagen's Golf-based Eos convertible will cost from £19,385 when it goes on sale in July.

The new Eos is essentially a coupe version of the Golf, but with an electrically operated, five-part, hard-top roof which can fold away in 25 seconds.

The hard-top roof also allows the fitting of a tilt-and-slide sunroof as standard to all models.

Five engines are offered, although only three are available to order now. The initial engine line-up includes a 148bhp 2.0-litre FSI petrol engine, a 197bhp turbocharged 2.0-litre T-FSI petrol motor, and a 138bhp 2.0-litre turbodiesel.

During April, 113bhp 1.6-litre and 247bhp 3.2-litre V6 petrol engines will also be available to order.

Six-speed manual transmissions are standard, while the 197bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged engine and the turbodiesel are available with a DSG automatic gearbox. The DSG gearbox is standard with the V6 engine. DSG models are available to order in June.

Two trims are available. Standard trim offers 16-inch alloy wheels, twin front and combined curtain and side airbags for front and rear passengers, as well as air-conditioning, foglights, electric windows and heated wing mirrors, and parking sensors.

As well as these items, Sport models receive 17-inch alloys, sports suspension, an upgraded audio system, and aluminium dash inserts and pedals. Buyers choosing the 3.2-litre V6 model also receive leather upholstery, and rain and light sensors.

Since cars in Uk are more expensive than here in Greece (for less than 2.0 lt engine) i would say that the price here should be around 26k euro for the base model with 1.6 lt engine and around 30 k euro for the 2.0 lt one.

The price is quite understandable since the it has a metal folding roof. The new Volvo C70 has more or less the same price tag.

It's close to the price of Megane cc and Peugeot 307 cc so it's a rather fair price.

does a 307cc/megane cc cost around 26k (1.6l)? god, i have a long time since i last read the last pages of a car magazine... I thought they costed about 2k less...
