It comes as no surprise that the GTD will get the petrol GTI’s outstanding grille, though newly interpreted as the GTD will be available in the facelifted version of the Golf right from the start. Power will come from the 2.0-litre four-cylinder TDI, though output will be increased from today’s 140 to then 170 bhp. - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: WCF: Golf Facelift and GTI Diesel Spy Photos I just realise how VW treats us in North America : 1) Golf facelift in Europe, while we are still wating for the Mk5 2) TDI output from 140 to then 170 bhp ?? We only wish, as our VWs are equipped with the super old 1.9L TDI, outputting 100 hp !?! Pathetic, that just sucks... |

Totally agree with you. I was reading the thing and I was telling myself "facelift" already? Oh no they must mean that the facelifted or new versio of the golf is coming out. Then I realize no wait! That is the facelift for the new version! We have just seen "new version" mk5 or whatever it is called here in Miami, Florida. I drove past a VW dealership and saw ONE!!!!!! only one and I was like wow finally it is here. And now VW is facelifhting the damn little thing.

According to the article since it has been out already in Europe for a while VW has decided to facelift the car. When the car has just arrived to the states. In the vw.com website the car doesn't even show up yet as the new golf.

![]() | Re: WCF: Golf Facelift and GTI Diesel Spy Photos Yeah we get shafted since the Bora/Jetta is the bread and butter car for VW in the US market. I don't really see how this "facelift" is much different from how the car currently looks. |

![]() | Re: WCF: Golf Facelift and GTI Diesel Spy Photos That's probably because that picture has the GTI front grille. Notice that the brake vents are slightly different - they have a Jetta style chrome line above, and the same shape. The pre-FL MkV Golfs have a completely different bumper, and the MkV GTI has a different bumper too. If you look at the WCF article, the other Golf FL models have a big chrome slatted grille like the Jetta does. I prefer the current one to an extent, not liking brash styling, but it'll suffice. Hopefully the GTI will still get the same brake vents it has now. - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER Also, if you have a look at WCF now, then you'll see that they're 'launching' the Golf MkV in America - with a 2.5L inline 5! I'd likely rather take that than the GTI's 2.0TFSI, actually. Could be more reasonable insurance (no turbo) and might take non-98RON petrol. I'm also a bit mystified about the facelift, but the Golf has been out here since, um, partway through 2004? And I'm glad I can see it now - might be a good reason to wait before getting a Golf. |
