Or the Beemer 3er. Nobody can deny it's a very strong seller, despite the price. Does it look boring, old? Nope.
The Golf were very good-looking cars till the bloated V arrived... This is a failure imo, the Golf is clearly stagnating while the competition makes huge progress. The Golf V was a good car but not really that superior than some competitors.
A car cannot sell on its sole reputation forever. They already had to make huge price decreases to sell the V at the beginning, why didn't they get that the Golf should look good? Why designing it in such a hurry? |
I understand what you mean but really if you want something stylish then go for the Scirocco. It might cost more (I have no idea?) but it seems to me that the Golf is the utilitarian transport designed for millions of drivers. They don't buy cars because of the way they look on the outside. They buy cars based on brand image, loyalty, drive dynamics, quality interiors, etc. All things in which VW really excels. If you ask the average VW golf V driver or IV driver what they value I'm sure that super hot styling will not be on the list. But what do I know, this segment is just getting popular in the US.
