I knew it was only a matter of time before they would go ahead with something like this, for a concept at least. There was talk of a W8 MK4 Golf, that would have been interesting, but me likey this much better!!! If you were a gazillionaire would you write a check for one of these? I most certainly would!
Cool car, but an utter and pointless waste for VW at this time. Now surely if they can stuff a W12 into this car I can get a R36 Jetta out of these folks!
It's a dilly concept - but Bruce has come closest to appreciating the car for what it is. In concept it's identical to the Renaultsport Clio V6, only with double the engine! Remember, the engine is mid-mounted, so it's doubtful that the builders would go to some much engineering trouble just to make it AWD. The Clio V6 was also rear drive, using a tranversly mounted V6 mounted engine - effectively a FWD layout placed in the trunk of the car.
So, I suspect this is the same arrangement though I may be surprised and proven wrong!
Fun and rather trick I reckon. Why did they build it? Because they can.
