A two-wheel-drive GLK, coming in April, will shed another $2000 off the window sticker. The competitive pricing—an Acura RDX SUV starts $2320 below the 4MATIC—is meant to lure “conquest buyers.” Mercedes-Benz predicts that 70 percent of GLK customers will be new to the German luxury brand. And hopefully they'll be impressed enough to purchase another Benz later on or at least recommend them. ![]() If Car and Driver complains about the fuel economy, then they should really not be driving a GLK350. Ever heard of a GLK220 CDI?

![]() | Looks good in red, that is the best interior combo - almond, black and burl wood. The black with aluminum looks so austere, the wood warms it up. GLK is a "studly" little cute ute! ![]()

![]() | ^ The X3 is being outsourced to a company in Graz, Austria (Magna) The next X3 will be made right next to the X5 and X6 in Spartanburg (U.S) and the Z4 has moved from Spartanburg to Germany (Regensburg plant?). Magna Steyr will therefore loose the X3, but in return they will make the Mini SUV for BMW. BTW, GLK is not cheaper than X3: IN Euros: GLK 280: 60.503 X3 2.5i: 59.200 GLK 350: 64.529 X3 3.0i: 63.030 ![]()

It is called conquest-pricing. New entry into a new segment for Mercedes so they've decided to make the price "right" at least during the introduction period. M
