Great Review Wimmer! Damn, I can't wait to get out and try this car. Soon, I'm going to go and try out the Q7, GL, X5 (new) and the MDX (once again). Trying to convince my dad to get a new SUV as of right now I'm leaning towards the Q7.

On a side note...So you chose the red color Jack? Good choice! The black was awesome as well but that red is just classy.

Well, the main difference between the GL320 CDI and GL420 CDI, aside from the price, are the engines and fuel economy. It's no secret that the GL420 CDI will be quicker, but it'll use around 1.5 to 2 liters (or more) diesel. I do agree that the GL420 CDI would be a useful addition in the North American market to convince people that diesels can be fun, fuel efficient and fast.

If there ever is a review between these two cars though, I'll post it.

I've not seen a single GL on the street yet, not even in Munich. The only GL's I've seen were in the MB showroom.

Hold the presses wimmer...check out my new thread where I change the color again. It indicate the unavailability of the Red in the GL until June. So I went back to Obsidian Black with Macadamia Leather (shown in the lower right inset.) Have to make a new montage now...:-))

Jack, you're killing me. Those 45 minutes behind the wheel of the GL were fun. It really is a fun truck to drive. Probably more so in the US where your roads are wider!
