Someone has got to talk to MBUSA if they plan on offering just the GL450 here in the U.S. because 335hp isn't enough. Two of the biggest competitors, Range Rover Supercharged and Caddy Escalade both offer 400hp on their trucks. The GL550 should be a no-brainer for the U.S. market. Maybe they're only saying this until the reveal the U.S. market GL550 at Detroit next month.

Since the original G-Class is getting a facelift according to most sources I wonder if they're saving the big V8 for an exclusive G550 model? Would be a mistake IMO, both trucks should get the engines because styling and design are so different there is room for both and buyers will have greater choice.

I voted that' it's ok... I do like the interior upgrades and actually wish they were available on the ML, at least the leather on doors and extra wood trim. The other touch I noticed was chrome around the speakers on the doors... These are little things, that shouldn't cost that much to put on the ML even though the base ML is priced a little high....

I think the GL will be succesful as long as this infatuation with BIG SUV's in the US continues....

Hey HoH, nice to see you here, and I hope you're here to stay!

Anyways, I like the GL much better than any of the other Benzes that have come out recently, even if it has a bit of a Japanese look to (some parts of) it. I really hope it'll be a winner, because I have the feeling MB needs one badly.

At first sight, I didn't like it, but upon further analyzation i have drawn more connections between this new GL and the old school G class. I like it.

Well these shots are almost convincing:

Really looks good here!

Now I wonder how much this thing will cost in here in the U.S? I'm betting on 60K to start for the GL450. I can't see why we don't get the GL500 (or GL550 in keeping with MBUSA's strategy) here.

Either I want this to be true it or is really whats happening because I see some elements of the old G in the new GL too.

My biggest problem with this GL and the M/R too are their interiors. While being higher quality than the first M-Class they still aren't as good as most Benz car interiors, they aren't even close to the CLS and the new S, IMO.

HOH, good to see you are able to come here occasionally!

Well, I hate the GL, the ML looks really nice to me, but when you stretch it it doesn't! Also the GL looks too American to me, and MB isn't! It looks alright from some angles but generally too big and horrid!

Sorry MB lovers!
