The ML is the M-Class. The G Class used to be the G-Wagons, those troop transports used in the Alps by the Germans converted into luxury SUVs for the consumer market. Hehe, my dad;s '84 G280 still has gun racks between the front seats hahaha.
This current GL series is supposed to be the modern incarnation of the G-Wagon, built more for consumers from the ground up. The G-Wagon was a little rough around the edges in many departments, our G280 is like the total opposite of Luxury in every way
This car really is a disapointment. WHO NEEDS A Bigger MB SUV?!?! Anyone here? Why would we buy this over a Lexu LX470 or an Escalade or a Range Rover when they offer just as much if not more for a better price?
It seems like MB is trying to milk there Badge some more. Hopefully the quality is up to par if not better...so much for hopes and dreams...
It looks too much like a Lexus, Toyota or Honda SUV. Not that its a bad thing, the car looks too similar to other competitors. The interior is nice looking, but not great. It looks too homogenized with the ML, but atleast they added that wood trim to the dash. They needed to fill up the huge empty space on the front passenger dash with something, it looks too plain for a luxury SUV of MB caliber. This is what the ML Interior should look like, and then they make a special interior for the GL.
Atleast the driving dynamics and engines should outclass the competition. The V8 engines should be sweet, tons of torque from the Diesel and rocket power from the new DOHC Petrol engines.
But serisouly, who really needs this new GL? Can't they just upgrade the G-Wagon interior with better appointments and engines?
