Welcome to the dark side.

BTW, last weekend I fell in love with this one (more or less your GT3 inverse):

Just for information: Good to see that the GT3 RS has the Porsche Approved plate on it. With this low mileage it could be that it was used on track. Let the dealership show you the ecu log and check it for over-revs.

To extend your Porsche warranty (possible until 9 years or 200.000km) an annual (or every two years) check is required. You can't extend the warranty when they find over-revs in the ecu log (maybe there are some in it but the dealership ignored them since they want to sell the car with warranty - and next year you'll have a problem).

Here's a sample of the logfile (source: 997 Carrera):
Number of ignitions, range 1-RPM Range 7,300-7,500
Number of ignitions, range 2-RPM Range 7,500-7,700
Number of ignitions, range 3-RPM Range 7,700-7,900
Number of ignitions, range 4-RPM Range 7,900-8,400 (Some damage)
Number of ignitions, range 5-RPM Range 8,400-9,500 (Damage)
Number of ignitions, range 6-RPM Range 9,500-11,000 (Damage)

Wait just a minute. Pekka, do you mean that it is actually possible to rev. the Carrera like that? I mean, above the limiter should not be possible unless you do a really stupid gear change southwards...

Correct, that's what they analyze.

AFAIK range 3-6 are above the limiter. Ignitions in these ranges will cost you the warranty. Pls note that the sample above is for the normal 997 Carrera. The max rev of the 997 GT3 RS Mk. I is 8,400 rpm.

I'm on track again and I agree with Porsche. A car owned by someone untalented enough to pull such a move is not worth having unless it comes with a serious rebate.

Thanks for the advice. I still haven't paid more than the deposit yet so will get them to print out this info. To be honest, I'd be surprised if it hasn't been near a track, but it really is spotless. They could put the clock back to 1 mile and I wouldn't suspect anything.

Can't thias thread be relocated to the Porsche section or something? I fail to see why it's in the BMW section'.
It's nothing but bashing BMW, and about Porsches. Dunkel, do your new job please.
