First "China Smart" Arrives In Germany... - 02-25-2008, 01:32 PM

I wanted to originally post this in the Smart lounge, but let's face it: garbage like this belongs in the garbage section.

Anyway, the first copied Smart from China arrived in Germany - and look at this! It's already rusting!

The German importer, Reva, hopes to sell the car for 6,500 Euros. The China Smart is powered by a 4-horsepower electric engine with a top speed of 45 km/h giving a range of 130 km.

Now my question is: Which sane European citizen is going to shed out 6,500 Euros for such a piece of sh*t like this?

It sure is a car that you can drive without driver's license, not really a smart competition...

And you would be really suprised by the price of all these Aixam, Ligier, Microcar and all kinds of "voiturettes", those cars you can drive without driver's license. They are awful pieces of crap and it is not rare to see one costing 6,000€... I had the shock of my life when I saw the price of these things! Thing is, they are sold in small numbers, and when you have no driver license (or no more) you have the choice between these and a scooter...
And rust on a new one is really not rare with these "cars"...

So compared to a real car, in thjis case a Smart, it is shockingly expensive and ridiculously awfully made. No safety, no equipment, disastrous build quality...
But compared to an Aixam, with "revised quality", it could become a tough competition. Because they are not really much better build...and not cheaper!!

I don't know if these cars are allowed outside Europa, don't think so...
