Police chase puts brakes on Lambo unveiling in NYC

The unveiling of the new Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder to a group of wealthy guests at Manhattan Motorcars was nearly put on hold by a police chase in New York. Gianluca Siciliano, a Lamborghini employee from Italy, was caught speeding 85 mph on Route 1 North. Siciliano accelerated past 100 mph, and police stopped their pursuit. Siciliano then stopped for a coffee at a nearby gas station, and was spotted by another group of officers. He was arrested and the car was impounded. Attorney Roy Macaluso said Siciliano is a good man in a foreign country who made a mistake, and should be treated as such. Macaluso, who is getting a Gallardo himself, said, “Officially, Lamborghini doesn’t condone unlawful behavior. But if this demonstrated the car’s performance capabilities, maybe it will help with sales.” Although the car never made it to Manhattan Motorcars, none of the wealthy guests noticed, because Lamborghini had another car flown in from Germany.

WOW!!! Im surprised, i never even heard this, the car that was at the unvieling was a yellow spyder.... BTW, not very hot in that color.... It was a cool party, lots of GORGEOUS hired help, and the Saleen was there, a black CGT, Elise, tons of Phantoms, and a Yellow Murci, alos a Bentley GT and a Flying Spur, but thats all on the first floor, it is a five floor showroom.

I didnt hear anything about the chase, also doing 85mph in NJ where the speed limit is mostly 65, i dont know why he would have ran, perhaps no license? Seems silly altogether...

Wow rather interesting.

I don't agree with the comment made by the performance or agility of the car in reference to the car speeding. What does that matter to the customers? I would still buy the lamborghini whether it was in a chase, speeding, or not.

I don't see how that would support the argument that it is good for lambo or how it would support the sales of this car. "Wow guys I bought a car that can go from 80mph to 100mph in nothing and I can out run the police!"

Even though the comment made by that person doesn't make sense, because even a civic can hit 100+mph...it doesn't make the story any less amusing.

This story cracked me up because I can totally imagine myself going to another country and speeding like crazy without knowing it...LOL

by the way..how was the party Alx?

Yeh, I don't get that either. I'm sure everyone who knows what a Lamborghini is knows it's fast. I'm sure all those present at the presentation know exactly what the Gallardo Conv' can do, especially since the Gallardo's been out for a little while now.

As for the show itself.... going by the callibre of vehicles that Alex mentioned... sounds like a wonderland of dream cars (well, dream for me, not for those fella's). Any photo's of the event ?

Im sure there are photos online, of the event. I went with some high end bank rep's and felt uncomfotable taking out a camera and snapping pics.... It was very crowded btw. They had an indoor cigar bar, about 10 regular bars, with all types of drinks. And many rich and high end people the car on display was yellow, and they started it up.... Sounded like a motorcycle too me, but oh well... not the best exhaust that i have heard. The cars outside were hot, i was the only MB , there were no Maybach's or anything. Lots of Phantoms, and Ferraris and Lambos. Basically just people walking around talking to each other... I ran into many people i know and missed YellowMurci by 45 minutes. I tried taking pics of cars outside but even the pics were pitch black and you couldnt see nothing in them.... Unfortunatley. Nontheless great event, i hear these parties are common, so next time i will go under other means... not with bank rep's.
