You know what guys? I think it is the face lifted Gallardo. There is no way Lamborghini is going to go down market while the R8 is going up market next year. That will totally dilute their line ups and confuse customers.

It sounds like a 420-450 hp flatplane 4.2 V8 FSI engine with lambo dual intake manifold and the exhaust is doing the rest.

I really don't see the point in Lamborghini going down market, surely that's the whole point of the R8!

Several V8 Gallardo test mules have been spotted over the past month, with this latest prototype photographed at Lamborghini’s Sant’Agata headquarters. Looking almost identical to the current V10 model, the new V8 Gallardo can be differentiated by the unique tailpipes and the distinctly unique engine burble. The most likely power source is VW Group’s 4.2L FSI V8 borrowed from the Audi R8 but with slight modifications to give it a unique sound.


Unlike the current Gallardo, the new model is rumored to feature a RWD configuration, but Lamborghini has said in the past that it considered AWD to be a unique feature of its cars so the baby Gallardo may yet remain AWD. I think the addition of a 8-Cylinder Gallardo to Lamborghini's current lineup would be awful. As soon as Lamborghini does such, the Gallardo immediately becomes less special, and ultimately more attainable.

Since i don't care about Lambos at all, i couldn't care less for them going downmarket... What's interesting though is the RWD rumor... More fun with Gallardo, don't you think?

Fair question. Still though, I'd rather have the Gallardo with AWD and 500+bhp, than a RWD version with 400bhp. I'd much rather see the introduction of something like an SUV (seriously), or the addition of a 599 GTB Fiorano rivaling GT.
