Hello,
I'm feeling great, hope you are as well.
The G-Class is a very complicated vehicle when we look at the engine choices. The original G-Class debuted as the
W463 in 1979 and came with weak engines that were all available with a manual transmission (240GD, 300GD, 230G and 280GE). In 1982, 1985 and 1986, these same engines were either replaced or boosted in terms of power (gasoline engines received fuel injection): still available with a manual.
The G-Class we have today is the
W460. The current model range encompasses:
G320 CDI (7Gtronic)
G500 (7Gtronic)
G55 AMG (5-spd A/T)
As you can see, they're automatic only.
If you want a G-Class with a manual transmission, you need to get either an older W463 or one of the W460 models that had a manual option:
250GD
300GD / G300 Diesel
G270 CDI
200G / G200
230GE / G230
Keep in mind that many of these were only sold in Europe, so they might not even be available in your area.
The G-Class Cabrio used to be quite popular, but as far as I know it is not being produced anymore due to low demand. Personally, I always felt the LWB G-Classes looked the best.
Hope this info helps.
