Wow...it really needs an update.

In my opinion the customers of the G-Class don't want to get a new interior. And I have to say, it has an own charme. Opening the heavy doors and then close the doors with a loud "wwwooommm". And also the interior must look like this - otherwise the G-Feeling is gone.
This car is like the Bentley Arnage! A purchasable remnant of the automotive history in todays world. By changing the interior/exterior the character of the car will get lost.

I agree, it doesn't need an update beyond keeping the technology current, the look should stay the same for as long as possible.

I wonder how many years the G has left though. I think 2010 is when MB will have to take a hard look at the G again to see if it is still viable.

I agree. I love the solid build of the G. I just wish it had a more...sumptuous interior. Something along the lines of the GL.

The G wagon interior is not changing. Just slapping the new Command unit in where the old one was.

There are some minor changes in the interior:
New lever gear box, with new logos in the top
New interior lights, long one type
New alcantara ceilling (optional, serie for AMG for long type)
Ventilated seats (optional)
