Sorry guys, I just do not share you excitement about this. I think it is time for the G class to go - if it went now it might at least keep some mystique, but sadly it's now doomed to die a slow and painful death as an out-dated suburban status-symbol for wealthy Americans whose self-esteem just could not allow them to drive a lowly American-built M class.
I understand that Mercedes sees this G class as still a very salable vehicle in the USA, but the thing has been rated as one of the worst polluting vehicles you can buy.
As far as I'm concerned, once again Mercedes-Benz has failed to do the right thing here - it seems, they were unable to produce a halfway decent replacement for a twenty six year old model - you might be celebrating, but I view this as more evidence of the complete shambles at Daimler.
