PS
I agree with osna.. Americans doesent like when sports are dominated by others
But when americans like Hill and Andretti won the Formula 1 chamionship, F1 was even less popular in USA than today.

Read my previous post.

Maybe an easier answer is that NASCAR is wildly popular in the states - especially amongst the rual/dumbass population. It's so huge, and there's so much money poured into and out of it, there's really not room for another dominant motorsport.
NASCAR is only average in popularity in vs. Formula 1 in Italy.

The money poured in NASCAR is small potatoes compared to the money poured in Formula 1.
Formula 1 invented the motor-sport buisness, when Lotus agreed in the 1960s
to paint their cars with the name of their sponsor.
Later Bernie and Max turned F1 into the global super-rich motor-sport it is today.
Schumi was the best paid driver in the world in the last 10 years. He made up to 100 millions per year; only Tiger woods made more.
Top F1 teams have between 250 and 500 millions per year budgets.

Giving F1 a real shot at the limelight means lots of money, promotion and whatnot. It's a chicken/egg thing that can't work because nobody is going to hang their neck out to promote a sport that'll probably be DOA if it tries to compete with the established Sunday broadcasts.
Formula 1 has more money than anyone else, by a considerable margin, yet they can't find funds for the USA ?!

This other countries also watch beside F1 those witch I've mentioned. Besides Germany, Britain, Italy watch the WTCC, BTCC and DTM but Formula 1 too, so why can't americans.

Once americans were very interested in Trans - Am, but also Indy, IMSA and Can-Am, yet no F1 and/or LeMans.
There was more than one dominant by far-yet still just average motor-sport in USA, so why can't it be today ?!

But Canada, Brasil, Mexico and Argentina also share this time frames/zones with the USA, and they are more or very interested in F1 despite the odd hours. Plus as I said there is TIVO and the internet/torrents to see races.

That's a good point. I don't know, maybe what 450 SEL said is true

Canadian F1 fans are very knowledgeable even though most of the races come on a 8 am on Sunday morning. Americans just don't seem interested in F1 or even that much in their open wheel series. Personally, I don't see the attraction in NASCAR. It's like a 4-hr. left turn.

I don't think F1 needs to succeed in USA at all costs. They certainly don't need to pander to that market.

By the way, since IE brought up Tiger Woods' earnings, he started a design company. He could get $10 million to 'design' a course. There's a game called "SimGolf" that allows anyone to design a course. I got it for free with a pack of balls I bought. Will anyone ask Schu to design a track? A Schu design might have plenty of tight corners that come in handy when he punts his rivals off the road. . .

Agreed, agreed on both counts. But would nice if americans would get in touch with the rest of the world.
