![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | FIA decides wins will determin who wins championship The FIA has decided today that whoever has the most wins in a season becomes World Champion. What er they, insane??? I think this solution sucks big time. Why not just give the winne 12 instead of 10 points. This way a victory is more important than a 2nd place (which I support) ut a 2nd place still counts. Now points would only be valid for the places 2 to 20 and the constructor's championship. So a second place is useless in terms of teh drivers championship, so why batlle for 2nd if your third, there's no use for it, cause the constructors championship is not even worth a tenth of the drivers championship (IMO that is of course). As far as I'm concerned they might as well use standard engines and even chassis if they do that, I believe they truly are ruining the sport now ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Ok victories will be important, but I always thought a world champion is the one guy that delivers good performance all year long, not in a couple of races, and I agree winning should be more important than being second but this is simply rubbish. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | This is a major blow for Hamilton as he's racing at the top all alone without the assistance of a team mate. Ferrari on the other hand are cheering as they'll happily order their respective drivers to hand over pole position if needed. Some major boring F1 in on the way as a system like this encourages team orders. |

![]() | FIA are a bunch of fatheads I really can not understand this solution. I have been a fan of F1 for over two decades. The best system was the old one where first six drivers took points 10-6-4-3-2-1. When they changed the system to first 8 players they deprecated winning, the most important was finishing. Now they are doing exactly the opposite. I can understand that they want to have more drivers with points, but for me the most important thing is to win, but that can not be the only decider. I would propose 15-10-7-5-4-3-2-1. |

Big surprise. Quote:

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | It also works the opposite way. I don't want to see racing where two drivers at the top are passing each other victories. Massa and Kimi will be at advantage here while Alonson, Hamilton and anyone else contending for WDC will face an uphill struggle for the trophy. What would be best is to simply reward 1st place finish with 12 points. All that FIA are trying to does not make sense. -They dramatically change the specs for the 2009 car but yet don't give the teams a chance to perfect their cars through in-season testing. -New aerodynamics aid overtaking but you get slapped in the back for any bold attempts at overtaking, plus more narrow street circuits are being added to the calendar. -Cost cutting is heavily promoted but FIA have yet to reduce the fee for hosting a GP. ![]() ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | > ^ They could have just given more points to the winner. This system really encourages team orders and championship blocking (think 1964). |
