![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The FIA "belived" the teams were in favour for the wins system. It's amazing how shameless they are.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I am very happy that this stupid rule is postponed for 1 year and I hope the FOTA will use as much influence as possible to delete this stupid rule by the 2010 season. There are much better alternatives, I hope all fans will react and that for once the FIA will use some common sense, although they haven't done that in the past 10 years.... If they do use this rule in 2010 they will simply ruin F1 ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | FIA set to scrap new points system Formula One looks set to ditch controversial plans to award the championship to the driver who wins most races after the governing FIA performed a late U-turn. "If, for any reason, the Formula One teams do not now agree with the new system, its implementation will be deferred until 2010," FIA said in a statement. The Formula One Teams' Association had earlier accused the FIA of acting outside the rules when it decided to change the points scoring system at a meeting in Paris. FOTA added that the teams had "unanimously agreed to question the validity of this decision". "It is too late for FIA to impose a change for the 2009 season that has not obtained the unanimous agreement of all the competitors properly entered into the 2009 Formula One Championship," the statement added. FOTA had proposed changing the scoring structure to a 12-9-7-5-4-3-2-1 points format from the existing 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 but the FIA's world motor sport council rejected that. The FIA said the `winner takes all' proposal, which was subsequently approved, had been put forward by commercial rights holder Bernie Ecclestone after he told the sport's governing body the teams were in favour of it. FOTA said teams were prepared to work with the FIA to devise a new system for the 2010 season. The rule change received a mixed reaction when it was announced. World champion Lewis Hamilton said he had doubts about the new system. "I think it's a shame what's happening to Formula One," said the 24-year-old Briton in a statement. "It's hard to believe that these recent decisions will improve things for the trackside spectators and TV viewers, who should always be our number one priority, but I guess we'll have to wait and see." ![]() ![]() ![]() | This little fiasco once again confirms Bernie and Max are joined at the hip. I find Max's (or FIA's) response, that it thought the F1 commercial rights holder (Bernie........or his ex-wife) had obtained the agreement from the teams (FOTA) to change to the proposed championship based on the most number of wins, to be ludicrous. How could the FIA not have consulted with the teams before making the announcement?! I think it was a case of Max and Bernie trying to cram their proposal down the throats of the teams and it didn't work out. They then backtracked and made up this little miscommunication story. I have always looked forward to Luca di Montezemolo's turn to become the Head of FOTA. It's going to be an interesting F1 season. |

And oh, Bernie is suffering from alzeimer as he advocated for the rule change today: "It's logic - you go to athletics and you look at the 100 metres, you're not looking at the guy that's second, you're looking at the winner. In most sports, people are looking at winners," he said. "It's very simple, when people start the race I want them to want to win. I don't want them sitting there, which is what Lewis Hamilton did, quite rightly, a couple of times last year. " How many times didn't Lewis Hamilton try to win but got punished for it? ![]() ![]() ![]() Bernie needs to be locked up in an elderly home and leave F1 to live happily ever after. | |
