Re: 2008 European Grand Prix

I must admit I switched channel to watch the Olympic Closing Ceremony after 30 laps.

It was indeed a boring race. I do worry this will become more prevalent as more races on the calendar (Monaco, Valenica, Singapore) are being staged at make-shift street circuits with tight track width and blind corners. There are just no passing opportunities.

Warot, for a moment I feared one of the McLaren drivers was going to be penalised for Massa's pit drama

Yeah that was a very interesting one especially the fact that Massa didn't let Kimi pass. It was right though because as we are getting closer to the end of the season Kimi is no longer just Massa's competitor but also one of his main rivals. So we'll definitely see stiff elbows between them in the coming races since there's no Mr. nice guy now when both have the potential of winning.

Spa should be a breath of fresh air for Kimi, a track he loves as well as a new engine. That's a race weekend that should be his. Massa and Hamilton will obviously have close to the same abilities of winning in Spa so nothing is guaranteed. Most importantly Ferri will need for the strategy and pit crew to be in full concentration. BMW will obviously be left watering the greenery since Spa is very much a speed circuit.

Re: 2008 European Grand Prix

Thank God the dude is alright!

Raikkonen's afternoon went awry shortly afterwards. On his second stop the Finn tried to leave his pit before the refuelling hose had been removed. He quickly stopped again, but only after hose man Pietro Timpini had taken a painful-looking tumble, which saw him subsequently stretchered to the medical centre for checks. Fortunately Timpini suffered only a minor fracture to his left foot.

“I made a mistake and left before I should have done,” he said. “Fortunately, Pietro is not too badly hurt. I wish him all the best and hope he gets better soon. In any case, it would not have changed anything as then the engine broke. Now we must concentrate on preparing for the next rounds and on improving our qualifying performance."

Great job by Massa, terrible by Ferrari!

Don't think there's anything else to comment on? Seriously a terrible race to watch.

Re: 2008 European Grand Prix

No news on any more "random" engine checks? So I guess they are just going to call it a season on that after just checking one Mclaren engine.

If you ask me Ferrari are looking mighty suspicious with two blown up engines in two successive races. Come on FIA lets try not to look so one sided.

Very boring.

Where were the seven plus safety car period that were predicted by everyone?
