![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Michael Schumacher's F1 life to hit big screen ![]() The German contingent in the F1 paddock at the Spanish Grand Prix are full of the news that a Hollywood producer plans to make a movie about Michael Schumacher and his rise to the top of F1. The rumour has been corroborated in Bunte magazine by the German's manager Willi Weber, who added the surprising comment that Schumi - always rather a wooden performer on media duty in F1 - would star as himself. Schumacher, who retired from F1 racing at the end of the 2006 season, is the most successful driver in the sport's history. He won 91 Grands Prix, claimed 154 podium finishes and seven Drivers' Championship titles between 1991 and 2006. And his contribution to the annals of motor sport may not end there. News that has pricked the ears of forward-thinking F1 team owners is that Michael's son, Mick, has begun his own career in helmet and overalls. The nine-year-old has just taken part in his first kart race in Spain under his mother's maiden name of Betsch, and finished eighth and tenth. Rubens Barrichello has confirmed he will not be celebrating his record-breaking '257th' Grand Prix start in Barcelona this weekend after all - because no one can confirm whether he has started 253, 254, 255, 256 or the magic 257 that would overtake Riccardo Patrese's record. The complexity of F1 rules during his 15 seasons means that Barrichello may have been at Grands Prix but retired during the formation lap, or failed to qualify, and thus did not officially start a race. His team cites "a lack of consensus" over the official figure but have announced that Barrichello will now celebrate the milestone at the Turkish Grand Prix in two weeks time. The Sao Paulo driver said: "As a boy, when I looked over the wall at Interlagos to look at Formula One, I always wanted to be there and to be a race winner. I never dreamt I was going to be the longest driver in F1 history." Source: Michael Schumacher's F1 life to hit big screen - Formula 1 - F1 - Telegraph

We have seen his entire F1 racing career on TV, we have read about what went on behind the scenes, does he really want to remind people again about his controversial moments eg Adelaide 1996, Jerez 1997, Austria, US GP 2002, Monaco 2006? The movie better include these chapters, otherwise it will be seen as a self-glorified film of him, much like Mr. Burn's own movie in the Simpsons.
