Williams FW14-active suspension photos

This is the reason why the Williams were so dominant in 1992. The team won both championship, with 10 wins, Mansell with 9 wins (record then) and Patrese scored 1. Not sure if Imhotep Evil has posted these photos before.

Re: Williams FW14-active suspension photos

Lotus was 1st to introduce the system in 1987, but the system weighs about 12kg and the hydraulic pumps draws power from the engine. William's own version was much more efficient in terms of engine power consumption and it is much more effective. Williams had a head start in 1991 and 1992, but by 1993 most teams have their own active suspension system.

Re: Williams FW14-active suspension photos

A few years ago I read an article that said Mansell had once told that the active suspension and other technology made the car so easy to drive that even a monkey could win the championship with it.

Re: Williams FW14-active suspension photos

It wasn't really true, quite the opposite, Mansell was really just spiteful because Prost had got the no.1 seat at Williams for 93 (due to his Renault connections).

Here what started the "monkey" talk
