Even a formula BMW will be stronger than an F1 in 2018.

That is so stupid... who ever has the best engine now will have an advantage for the next 10 years.

Why even compete? Just use spec engines made by Bernie's wife's sister's husband's company.

F1 was all about research, new technology, and now you can't even design a new gearpaddle because it is illegal to change it...

What happened to the "Green F1" plans? And how is this time of stagnation going to do F1 any good?

But it is not the FIA's problem if developping a motor costs money to the constructor!!!
Then it should not be forbidden to develop the motor, and it will be like everything: X wants to win, develop the motor, whereas Y has less money so less wins...
Is it for equality between big and small teams? But then, the big teams have better motors, will improve them quicker, and then frozen everything, so the bif teams have better engines...

This sounds stupid to me.

At least they're V8s and not for 4 pots. But they're still missing 2 cylinders and this freeze is idiotic.

So what is actually in it for car manufacturers? The prestige of competing in F1 will be lost and the marking opportunity will be greatly reduced as well. Sure it will save them a lot of money but F1 will no longer present a challenge for their engine designer/engineers. F1 is probably the toughest training and education program for these engineers, they often take their knowledge from F1 and apply it straight back into road car engine development, for example BMW, Ferrari, and possibly Toyota and Honda. What the manufacturer will save in financial cost will contribute to the decline of the skill and knowledge level of their engineer.

Back on topic. Max is a tool. One of the elements that separate F1 from other motorsport is that F1 has the most rapid technological development, and that each team develop their own package. That is what the fans like and want; those who oppose are not true F1 supporters. Look Max, there is an existing racing category for the motorsport racing that you want, go and become the president of NASCA or something and have your little fun over there, don’t destroy the sports we like.
