So if you ever wondered what's the performance difference between F1, Champ Cars and NASCAR... well now you can. As of this year, all three racing series will have run at the same circuit: Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, right here in my backyard. So here are some times to compare... F1 Fastest Laps 1:13.622 Rubens Barrichello (2004) - Lap record 1:16.367 Fernando Alonso (2007) Lowest top lap 1:20.092 Scott Speed, STR-Ferrari (2007) Champ Car Fastest Laps 1:20.238 Dario Franchitti (2002) 1:22.325 Sebastien Bourdais (2006) NASCAR (Busch series) Fastest Laps 1:43.198 Ron Fellows (2007) - from this weekend's practice sessions

| Re: F1 vs Champ Car vs NASCAR lap times compared Had it not been for regulations that constantly retarded the F1 cars since 2004 we'd be a lot faster. This stagnation in lap times (2004 to 2007) is the biggest stagnation in GP racing history since 1939/WWII/post WWII F1 period. Bernie and Max are going up against WWII, unbelivable but true. BTW these are short stints. On overall pace the F1 cars would be a lot better than these times indicate. |

| Re: F1 vs Champ Car vs NASCAR lap times compared I added the quals times for NASCAR which are currently being held. It's weird that they managed to drop 40 secs from the practice runs !? This makes 'em faster by a whole 10 sec. vs F1 cars around the same track... I would have never thought that ?!

But I took the times from NASCAR.COM ... the only explanation I can come up with is that for the quals they are not timing the whole lap.

| Re: F1 vs Champ Car vs NASCAR lap times compared FALSE ALARM... simply put, I'm an idiot! NASCAR puts their times in seconds (103.071) and when I copy+paste I mistook it for 1:03.71... So in reality 103.071 = 1:43.071 !!! It all makes sense now!
