Saleen and Ford Team Up on Supercharged 450-HP F-150 Harley-Davidson

DEARBORN, Mich. — When Ford's 450-horsepower supercharged F-150 Harley-Davidson Super Crew 4x2 hits showrooms this summer, buyers can expect to pay luxury prices for all that punch. The Dearborn automaker on Wednesday said the Saleen supercharger option will add $6,500 to the F-150 Harley's $37,210 base price.

The latest iteration of the F-150 Harley-Davidson, as modified by Saleen, effectively fills the performance gap left by the demise after model-year 2003 of the F-150 SVT Lightning. That truck retailed for around $32,500, or $11,000 less than the '07 Harley/Saleen edition.

The new hot-rod pickup was inspired by the F-150 performance truck concept that earned kudos at the 2006 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The Saleen-supercharged F-150 is equipped with a 5.4-liter V8 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission that delivers 450 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque.

Vehicle highlights include a twin-screw supercharger in the same style as the one in the Shelby GT500, a dual-stage water-to-air intercooler and an optional gauge pod with boost and air-charge temperature gauges.

The supercharged F-150 Harley-Davidson comes in ebony black or dark amethyst. Details include 22-inch wheels and tires and a scalloped stripe along the beltline.

Ford said this is the ninth model to come out of the affinity marketing program between the two companies. It said nearly 60,000 Ford F-Series Harley-Davidsons have been sold.

What this means to you: Substitute "Saleen" for "SVT" and "Harley" for "Lightning." Add 11 grand and voilà! — you've got yourself one very fast, very expensive truck.

Whats the point of buying a 450HP pick-up track? Going to the grocery store faster than anyone else? And i hope that this 4X2 means it's RWD...

Making a 2WD Pick-up is stupid and pointless. But a 450 Hp 2WD Pick-up is about as stupid and pointless as a solar powered torch.
