Ferrari F430 replacement

Details may be few and far between, but speculate is rampant on the upcoming successor to the Ferrari F430. The Prancing Horse rarely produces concept cars, but when it does, they make 'em count. So expect some of the green concessions from the Mille Chili concept to appear in the new mid-engine supercar, internally code-named project F142.

The car is likely to feature the direct injection and dual-clutch transmission which debuted in the California, coupled to a regenerative braking system which the company developed in partnership with sister company Magneti Marelli. The supercar, which could pick up the F450 or F470 nameplate depending on the displacement of its high-revving V8 engine (with the possible addition of a turbo or two) is expected to be even lighter than the 430 Scuderia's mill. However, don't expect a Spider version to follow: that mantle's been taken up by the front-engine California. That's about all we can say with or without any degree of certainty at this point, but reports peg the car's debut in October of this year – making the Frankfurt Auto Show a likely venue for the unveiling – with deliveries beginning at the start of next year.

P.S, I think this is it, idk:

Re: Ferrari F430 replacement

Ferrari F450 coming this October

Ferrari's
replacement for the F430 will be called the F450 and is set to be introduced this coming October and customers will receive their production version by early 2010.

The F450 will come with a V8 powerhouse that can generated around 500 hp. Lighter than the F430 Scuderia the F450 will be the very first “green” Ferrari ever and will highlight an AWD system, enhanced handling from ground-breaking adjustable suspension creating a vehicle that will become an intense rival to the Lamborghini Gallardo and the Audi R8.

^That AWD system might be B.S, idk.

Re: Ferrari F430 replacement

I will laugh out loud if the replacement features RWD. That will leave Porsche as the sole genuine RWD sports car manufacturer.

Re: Ferrari F430 replacement

More news:

Ferrari is known to offer some of the best power per displacement ratios; therefore they are expected to produce 500 or more bhp, by only increasing the displacement to 4.5 liters. The rest of the power gain will be due to an increased maximum rev limit, of up to 10,000 rpm, improved air flowing and cooling.

Design lines will not be a revolution, but will be changed in order to keep up with the technical advances. All of the air intakes will be enlarged to ensure an increment in the cooling required by the improved engine and brakes. At the rear there is a possibility to see middle mounted exhausts, inspired by the Scuderia.

Great to hear. The twin-turbo rumors were making me nervous.

Maybe it's a lightweight part-time AWD system that only kicks in when the front wheels have lost a pre-determined level of adhesion. Ferrari patented such a system for the front engined models about three years ago.
