Although the camouflage makes the car pictured look like something of a cross between a hearse and a delivery van, it is in fact a Ferrari, quite possibly a new 2+2 in the granturismo form factor. Spied testing at the track in Fiorano and snapped by a photographer, the new car is breeding rumours quicker than it runs laps.

The new Ferrari is expected to see uninhibited daylight for the first time at the Paris show this October. Until then - or shortly before, what with embargos breaking like they do - we’ll have to make do with the details we can scrape together. So far, that means that we can tell you the new Ferrari is about 50cm (20in) shorter than a 612 Scaglietti that was testing at the same track. Connecting the new chassis with other trends and rumours at the house of the Prancing Horse, there’s a chance that the power for the new car could come from a 450hp direct-injection V8, says Quattroruote. The one thing we know for sure is that the engine is mounted up front. Oh, and it’s a Ferrari. Not a hearse.

Now that's hot...WAY better looking than the 612.

Hmmmmm....Ferrari has sworn up and down they weren't working on anything like this. Will be interesting to see what this really. With Ferrari, Maser and Alfa sharing so much under the hood today and other misc parts its really no telling what this is.

Edit: Don't know why this didn't come to me before. This is a 599 Spider. Why else would they cover up so much of the rear of the car. Look at all the tape and what not on the top.

I dont' think it is a 599 at all, the engine looks like a V8 more than a V12, and it isn't the replacement for the 612. The car is still too new to be replaced entirely. I think this is the new entry level Ferrari, similar to the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, but priced well above the Aston.

I agree with it not being a replacement for 612, but the front end screams 599 to me. All that tape and those bags over the rear hint at a convertible IMO. Either way we can expect a new Ferrari at Paris this year or maybe even Detroit early next year I think. The engine shot goes with your guess though. Hmm..that means Ferrari has been lying to us all along...lol.

The wheel base looks rather short for a 2+2 unless Ferrari is targeting the car for 50 year old men with models girlfriends the size of Tara Reid.
