![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Airmatic is really something for the S-Class IMO, it was designed for the S and merely "fitted" to the E where it doesn't make much of a difference. I just like the adjustability of it compared with the standard suspension. M

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | If you can test drive a car with both of them. Honestly it is a hard question. I don't use my CC much unless I'm on a long trip. I guess if you guys take lots of trips or something than Distronic plus is good, but if not Airmatic. Or you can just save the money and not get either.

![]() | I'm finding the steel sports suspension on our W211 quite firm on Sydney's streets. Anything less then smooth roads and you can really feel it at times. I'd say drive with and without airmatic before buying. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Congrats man and thanks for the info. So we do get the CGI version of the 3.5 V6? The media has been saying we won't, and my salesman wasn't sure. I asked them about it a month ago and they won't tell me a thing. If the new E is loaded with features then we will definitely bring forward our purchase. Mind if you tell me the drive away price? IMO you use the airmatic suspension everyday, but you hardly use the distronic function in normal driving, plus I do notice the slight difference between the normal and airmatic suspension.

![]() | Distronic is something that will be awesome in the beginning, when the feature is brand new for you. But trust me you'll be using it less and less when time goes by, and Airmatic is something you will use everytime you get in the car.

![]() | Hey guys. Thanks heaps for the input. I do fear distronic will be used less after the novelty wears. We had the airmatic on our w211 though, and something never felt quite right about it. It was superb on our w220, but on the E it felt different. I'm sure its sorted this time around. Some mags claim the airmatic E may ride even better then the S ![]() No chance of a test drive of the new E with and without airmatic as the first vehicle will arive Mid July. Our's will arrive Mid August. Monster, my bad. It's definitely not the CGI. Something about ADR. MB always seems to be having issues with ADR and new technology. First Distronic, then distronic plus, then the flashing brake lights, then the dynamic suspension on the C....whats the problem I wonder. Once Australians see the specs of the 350's and 350CDI's and 500's I'm sure most people will be extremely pleased. The cars really are loaded, and it doesn't seem like they're trying to screw you for every desirable option anymore. The standard Avantgarde wheels are even pretty sweet 18inchers. No exact prices yet, but the promise is in line or LESS then the same engined w211 (which had less equipment). |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | My Dad had Airmatic in one of his W211, and it was not really that impressive. On the S-Class however it's awesome. Then he had an R-Class (yes, I know...) with Airmatic II, and God! absolutely amazing stuff. The suspension I mean .Distronic+... Well it's funny, surely impressive. But I hate these systems, I even never put the standard Tempomat (when I have one, which is not the case any more). It must feels disconnected from the drving, with the Distro+ throttling and braking for you. I'd take the Airmatic over the Distro.

Colour choice time now. What's the best configurator for the E? The one on the german site doesnt seem crash hot, and the colours are confusing. Can anyone help with pictures of Indium Grey and Paladium Silver? Can any German speakers please explain what the following are? Kastanienbraun Mandelbeige Naturbeige The Australian colour scheme shows, in what I believe is the correct order, Chestnut brown Almond beige Natural brown lol im confused! It doesn't help having a black and white spec guide. Last edited by Mr. Mercedes; 05-15-2009 at 09:55 AM. | |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Yep, I never could find a sastisfying setting. In Comfort it was floating, too soft, and the others were harder but never felt connected to the road. The suspensions felt artificial. On the R-Class you were riding on clouds, and the Sport mode was really much harder with much reduced bodyroll. Airmatic II feels much more natural, it's more comfortable while more pleasant to drive. Kastanienbraun = chestnut brown Mandelbeige = almond beige Naturbeige = natural beige (not brown). You got it (almost) right!
