German Car Zone

This was sent to my dad yesterday by MB themselves. Looks like they know who has an E-Class so they're trying to interest us in the W212. Also included in the package was the official price list for Germany, an advertising brochure and an accessories brochure. I only scanned the most important/interesting pages of these brochures.

Looks like MB has a real winner with this thing!

Actually "silly" responses. Christian, you more than held your own and your responses looked more educated and balanced.

The comparisons to the Lexus GS were more that hilarious, no resembalance in any shape or form to the W212.

to be fair, and brutally honest, The new E class definitely has a verry close resemblance to the Lexus GS, It is the truth, i , as a merc fan has 2 agree, that for once lexus has created an evolution of a design that has been copied.It is done all the time, merc has done it numerous times by copying BMW, Look at the S class boot, idrive etc...But that doesnt mean the E class is not beautiful, i believe its a very beautiful lookin car, and that merc pulled it off better than the Lexus...

That is how the Motor World works, it just takes 1 Manufatcureer 2 create a masterpiece and every1 will follow...Why do u tink merc came out with the LED Fogs? because of Audi and there DRL...Most prob the e class fogs will be led drl as well....

Just a thought....And sometimes i dont see why lexus is bashed soo much? if they succesful its because of there faithful customers, im sure if they were doing something wrong they wouldnt be 1 of the top luxury sellers in USA....

^^ I wouldn't go that far, 'cause the car in itself doesn't look like the Lexus. Its shape, stance are pure MB.

However, the front lights do look like the GS' ones. That CANNOT be denyed. And arguably, the rear has a very little something Lexus in it too.

To say they copyed is goint a bit far. But to say they weren't inspired by Lexus would be a bit naive. Every single carmaker is closely following what the competitors do and sometimes.

What bothers me, is that MB does that more than BMW or Audi. They have no real design lead.

The W221 interior is completely e65-inspired, down to the most little details (even the Direct-Select), the LEDs are totally unoriginal, and now these front lights that look like they came out of Lexus's spare store...

It takes nothing from the fact that I am liking the W212 very much. I however do hope MB will re-gain a design leading position, which does not seem to be the case as they announced they will follow the "bio-wave" trend with future models (just when I was happy to see the MB squared again...)

Fantastic! When will we see the full specs and pics in English. I have noted that the UK mercedes.co.uk has put the E class on the web however no true details! Can any one help with the full details in English.
