Swedish premiere for the new E-class in March if our swedish members didnt know.

My favorite E-Class is still the W123.

And I adore the W210. It might not have been one of the best Mercedes' but the design, in this case an E50 AMG, looks fantastic. It has aged well.

I expect that you will be there for us Mercedes fans complete with a camera and fully charged batteries, right?

My favorite is the W123, too.

However, I hate the W210 with all my heart.

- ugly design (too roundish, too short and falling bonnet compared to the heavy rear making its proportions ungainly.. the ridiculous pre-FL rear lights)

- strong rust tendancy, even if not there on every 210 unlike what we sometimes read/hear, it damaged MB's reputation,

- driving sensations who are not better than a W124,

- The fact it was clearly under the BMW e39 in almost every aspect...

- The fact it was the first MB to be really on the cost-cutting side...

I notice the plastic shield for the distronic thing is placed behind the front grill, which is different from the cars back at the media day in Detroit.

I honestly wasn't bothered by them though I suspect they will fit in much better with the design on an Elegance/Avantgarde trim model because of the circular chrome rings. It just adds a touch of class, which the double fog lights here on this Classic trim version just lack. Still, they don't really bother you. The whole car looked actually really sleek, not as roundish (dare I say "fat") as the W211.

What was the dashboard grain like? Same as the C or different?

The same as the W204 C-Class. Soft and pleasant, yet at the same time reassuring. The interior is really great.

The lighting inside the cabin was no adequate and hence I had to use flash in my pictures - and flash makes interiors look ugly.

Well I hope not! The grain of the plastics in the 204 is its only flaw (besides the slightly boring dash design)...

I hope the dash is softer and less shiny in the W212, otherwise it'd be very disappointing.

At least the layout is supremely well designed, but a softer, less shiny material than the 204 is necessary!
