While you can see the age of the Lexus already, the front isn`t that much different on the W212 E.

I don't agree with that... there are a few examples of crappy looking MB's that didn't sell both in the US and Europe (C Class Sport Coupe, Vaneo). I actually think that statement applies more to BMW, than MB.

You know very well that those models are way too un-important and unessential as the E,the E is a main cash cow in MB lineup,trust me it'll sell.Just look at the W210 it did pretty well

No doubt the thing will sell, in places like Hong Kong the city will be crowded with these things as soon as it goes on sale, screw the economy, people who afforded a E before will afford a new E. And one would look good and rich driving one of these around, that's all it needs.

I dont' think the car looks good, but it looks agressive with those emphasised side profile and those angular front bumpers, i guess agressive means good looking nowadays? But I am not a fan of the new MB hood/side joint if you know what I mean, or how the hood is raised from the side and there is this huge gap/line looking from the side. I guess they couldn't find a better way of doing it but for comparison, BMW does it much better.
Looking at both generations of E, I cannot conclude whether MB wants to go round or boxy.. the previous generation was VERY rounded, there is virtually zero sharp edges, the proportions helped it to look good; this generation is VERY angular, nothing is round, everything has some kind of straight line or sharp edge touch to it.

Sometimes I wonder why the current Sclass is so nice and sleek, more coup-ish than the C and E. Shouldn't this boxy character work best on the S? I mean I wouldn't mind the flagship MB having the most amount of "traditional-ness" in it, but they decided to even make the C so boxy.

These pictures just strengthen my opinions and emotions. Comparing the rears, the W211 has much more appealing design. You can't mix it with other cars up. The "language" of the design is definite.
Nevertheless the rear of the W212 reminds me a bit of the W124…but more the "corners" and the straight design, then other parts.

But maybe I will change my mind, by seeing more pics etc…
