Bit like what you find on a 190 or a W126, you know, rectangular like that. Even if modernized of course. The others are not at all what you expect from a Mercedes.

![]() | Re: New W212 E-Class Sedan & Estate Thread II (Spy pics & info) Well hasn't that been my argument for a lot of things? However, these lights are beautifully and cleverly integrated (following the contours) into the stylized moldings of the rear fender panel ....I like that.

The lights are not very well integrated in the bootlid, only added. I'm expecting more the "wave" you see in the W204: the characterline goes to the lights, slides on its corner, and then merges with the upper part of the bootlid, very harmonious. Very clever and very well resolved. I love that detail. This would be possible with the lights on the pic I posted. On yours, furthermore, the lights are inclined to the ground, whereas on other Mercs you have the whole car raising, so it looks a bit strange to have a raising characterline suddenly going down around the taillights. ![]()

As for Audi they've stopped progressing their designs and have instead focused on funny looking LED strips. So Mercedes is no different than other manufacturers. Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mazda and Honda are also engaging on eye candy design philosophies. So I would love to hear which manufacturer you perceive as following form over function sticking to a harmonic design philosophy. | |

![]() | Re: New W212 E-Class Sedan & Estate Thread II (Spy pics & info) When this has an AMG kit it will look insane. It does have many similarities to the W124, but it also reminds me of the W140 (which I loved) with the tank like stance and stuby rear end. |
