CLK in Paris (because it's based off the new, existing C)
E-class in Geneva (because it appears to be almost done, but needs a bit more testing since it's a new platform)

Rob, I think you know that I don't think this car is ugly or bad ... as a CAR .. but as a Mercedes yes it is ... those guys were the pioneers and trend setters for god sake ...

For me it's much more Mercedes than the W211. Just look at the greenhouse and you recognize it as a MB.

The front looks powerful, the side is clean and modern. Ther rear is still very camoed, I don't buy these smallish rearlights for instance, they will be CLC-like for me. And the rear wheelarch will make the rear side lighter. I like it at lot, even if it's still camoed. And it's typically MB for me, with this squared, powerful stance. Not sporty or light, but massive and self-assured like it should. I think it will have a huge road-presence, like MBs used to have.

As far as the "remove the character-line and it's plain", well... you can say that for everything, remove this or that...yes, but it's here, and for a reason.

Can't agree with that. The greenhouse is straight off the W221.



Mercedes styling really started to change noticeably with the CLS ....it is a kind of mid-Atlantic style -- halfway between European and North American.
