Wait for the camo to come off. The profile shot of the W124 I posted is rather dark and downsized for those who really can`t make out the details.

I`ll post better W124 E-Class profile pics when the W212 debuts.

The design (profile) as well as the interior was inspired by the W124 E-Class, which is quit clear. The W124 E-Class was one of most remarkable MBs to come off the line. I believe Mercedes wants to echo that greatness with a modern abstract theme.

Abstract is the word here.. this is what a true designer understands with a "retro" design themes.. It`s not about linking "black and white" images. It`s about the "gray" dimension between them. Once this is understood then you cannect images with retro design.

Many of the past CGIs are making the car too sleek. The car is clearly going to have a very boxy, squaty look..Very similair to the C class.

That sounds a lot like marketing BS Carlton.

This new E class is clearly an assemblage of many styling themes (mostly conceived under Pfeiffer) we have seen on various MB vehicles in the past few years.

No more so then the BMW marketing BS spewed all over this board.

It's no coincidence or accident that so many are linking these newer Benzes to their boxy predecessors Rob. While it may seem absurd to you from a design perspective, to the average consumer they will draw similarities to the w124 etc. And that is exactly what MB is intending. Offcourse with a healthy dose of additional 'styling'.
