I understand, but you know well what happened with BMWs design several years ago and what's the result? | | | | | Advocate

Sales aren't the end-all to everything, nor do they mean it was a good looking car. Interesting, bold, technology-laden, yes...but pretty it wasn't.

M | Then why does it sell so good today and why did it sell so well even before FL?
Lemme tell ya: 'Cause it's the ultimate driving machine! (ok, a little bit of fanboyism, but still, i'm right ) | | | | | Contributor

(ok, a little bit of fanboyism, but still, i'm right ) | It sells well because it is a BMW, not because buyers of a large luxury car are throwing it around corners and what not. Actually just sells ok in the U.S. nothing to write home about. Also, it was new and very different from the previous car, some people have to have the latest and greatest, no matter what it looks like. Truth is the average person's (non-enthusiast) idea of a good looking car probably isn't shared by you or I.

The 2002 7-Series had a bold look which I know some people found irresistable. They loved it, thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. So in a sense the design does sell the car, to some people. Others were attracted to the whole idrive concept (I know a few) and others were just BMW fanboys, would buy it no matter what it looked like. It varies. Design most definitely sells cars, but only to some people. There is absolutely no accounting for taste when it comes to design. One person sees a hideous vehicle the other sees a work of art.
