If you look the front of the car from above the hood is shaped in the same way as the sterring wheel.

Very nice from Mercedes - it really did surprise me when I realized that.
Absolutely .....and this center seam (edge) detail first seen on GM cars.

That reminds me of what Audi did when they switched to single frame grilles. They made the steering wheel echo the grille design.

Re: 2009 E-Class Sedan & Estate (Spy pics & details)

but there is a fundamental flaw in what MB is doing
whereas the single frame grill is more than easily identifiable to all but the fully blind as a steering wheel stable, having the dash shape, or a particular curve instilled inside a steering wheel design will remain just an annoying curve on an ugly wheel for 99% of the popultion, good design is design that provokes and can be understood, or id it is not toi be understood it shou generate polarizing debate
those steering wheels belong to the "exclusive" school of design, and they are meant for the few who sit. like mr bean, in the very back fo the museum, just looknig at paintings
or they should come with a seign manual to explain at the very least the uglyness of the steering wheel and why MB asses are now so fugly

The only thing is that in person you don't even notice the steering wheel nearly as much, if at all as you do in pictures. When I looked at the new C I didn't even notice the steering wheel.

Well for me the steerings on C or E certainly aren't fugly. IRL you barely notice them. They look very good IRL, but that's right that the C-Class' does not in pics. Still very far from ugly, though.

For me the steering of the C takes the lines of the center console, just like the S. Not of the hood. But as the center console itself does take some design lines of the hood...

You can see the steering wheel design follow the lines of the center of the dashboard, and the shape of the central air vents are probably shaped like the front grill, just like those on the S-class.

No doubt, thats the case monster. I can`t say I`m a big fan of that steering wheel though.

Love the dash!

the dash's horizontal strip and the corner air vents remind me of the 5 and 3 series. More so it's the fact of how the wood is intergarted into the dash. It has a more "stuck on" look like the 5 and 3 than like a nicely integrated design like the S and current E.

MB looks to be sharing a lot of interior components across their lines. The glove-box door looks like it's straight off the C or GLK, the radio stuff is also. The climate controls looks more along the line of the Sclass though.
