Mb designers have become obsessed with ugly steering wheels. First the S, then the C-sport, now this.

Cute how they're using BMW's kidney's grille as a camo' feature. As for the steering wheel, I'm with tennmb on this one.. just doesn't look nice.

Looks like the tv screens going to be fixed in the dash (unlike the C-class which has flip-up)... E-class is finally catching up in this feature.

If you look closely in the S and the C class, the shape of the centre hub of the steering wheel actually resembles the shape of the dashboard. Here is a "professional" paint job to demonstrate my point.

MB only does this for their sedans. At 1st I don’t like the steering wheel as well, but after I studied the design, and look at the entire package rather than a single element, I realise the shape of the steering wheel brings design harmony to the interior. So I guess MB is trying to have the same design theme going for the new E-class steering wheel.

Exactlly I saw that after a while on my new C class, that the sterring whell actually looks like the hood of my car.

See what I marked - the crack in the middle on the steering wheel is same as on the hood and a little on the bumper. Also the lower part is cut in the same way, to match the lines that go along the headlights - Click to enlarge photos.

If you look the front of the car from above the hood is shaped in the same way as the sterring wheel.

Very nice from Mercedes - it really did surprise me when I realized that.

Is it me or does the E-Class appear to have grown a bit on the outside?

The last time I drove a W204 C-Class, I didn't "notice the steering wheel". Plus, they look pretty decent in real life. I guess when you're sitting right behind the wheel you get a different perspective.

The interior looks more up scale, similar to the C-class. Just look at the all the metal around the switches and air vents. Not to mention the speedometer.
