Re: 2009 E-Class (spy pics & details)

I am liking it it looks very sharp and mordern and yet having the cues off the 123 series i like those air vents...the command screen pics not very clear ....the gear lever looks strange and i thaught it had a lever like the ml and s class so maybe its not a real pic but if it turns out like this its a winner for shure...

Re: 2009 E-Class (spy pics & details)

Uffff ....

MB are really trying to replicate the Sacco era. Back to the past. Retro.

Is that any good? I don't know. MB shouldn't have left that design philosophy in the first place. MB customers loved designs from that era. Yet I wonder if they will be tricked with this retro charade. Perhaps they will, perhaps they won't.

IMO this retro boxy move will make MB more special, more classic, more original MB - something that will differentiate MB cars from the competitors. But I still wonder whether people will fall for this recycled design.

I wish MB a good luck.

Interesting. Good find, The Artist!
Difference between that picture/scan and the spy photo of the interior is the gear shifter. On the spy photo it's located behind the steering wheel similar to the S-class but on the picture/scan it's not. Also the crease/overlap area where the center console meets to the bridge of the center tunnel isn't there while it's clearly on the spy photo's.

Personaly I don't really like the thick white metalish frame around the center airvents and the thick strips, just too thick. It looks kinda toy-ish at the first glance. I prefer the thin and classy chromestrips like in the S-class.
Aside of that, the metalish strip above the far left airvent is much thinner than the strip heading to the right.

To fall back on the most recent spy photo (not the scan) of the interior.
Did anyone notice the switches for the climate control / CD exchanger? It seems to be metalish a la S-class.
Further more.....although it could be my eyes playing tricks with me, did anyone notice something at the bridge to the center console or the side of the centerarmrest? It seems like it's partly made out of chrome/metalish element.
Now that's something you didn't see in the scan.
By the looks of it, the new E-class is going to be a High Quality car a la S-class.

Re: 2009 E-Class (spy pics & details)

i think it will work i dont think its a recycle....

i hope they have different designs for different cars like maybe the e its own stlye the cls its own...the c.babd a maybe similar and the sl .cl and s maybe similar and the suvs ml and gl similar not same..

if you look at the a4 a4 and a6 and also q7 the very much similar ...

where as these mercs are all hoing to be different its quite a good strategy if it stays this way ...

i expect the s and cls classes to be more the rounded shape and the others more similar to the e ...

or the new c ..i am happy to see the e and c interiors are not same ...they got qiute a lot off diferences...

and guys the steering is very nice when u see it in real............

Excellent attention to detail Alwing!

The gear lever locations probably differ between automatic and manual models. Also, perhaps that metallic 'plate' on the transmission tunnel is a feature of avantgarde models?

It seems MB is once again adopting design consistency in their interiors. The C, GLK and E are clearly following the same design language. I'm very glad to see this happening.
