Yeah, I know about the 370z. I'd rather do my own rev matching on a manual.

Mercedes just doesn't want to admit that the previous CLK63 AMG Coupe a dud in the showroom, it didn't sell...thats why they aren't doing another one. On the other hand the CLK63 AMG Black Series sold pretty good...for the one year it was on sale here. An AMG E Coupe has nothing to do with the CLS since. All this changing the CLK to E and what not has gone too far, its all bs. The E Coupe is nothing but a CLK with a different designation and worrying about it conflicting with the CLS is nonsense. Hello.....the CLS is a sedan and they aren't worried about the E63 sedan conflicting with the CLS63. Marketing run amok.

If I'm correct, they didn't sell the CLK63 coupe in the US. They only sold the f__king convertible here. But I could be wrong.

CLK55 Coupe same difference. Point being the C209 AMG Coupe never sold well here so they pulled the plug on it.

I doubt they'd pull the plug because the car didn't sell well in just 1 market.

Well if I'm not mistaken the U.S. market is AMG's biggest market (or at least outside of Germany) and I don't think the AMG CLK Coupe set the sale charts afire anywhere. Its is so easy for them to now use the E-Class coupe excuse not to build one. The AMG CLK was somewhat of misfit anyway. Not really an M3 competitor, but not up to M6 level either. MBUSA did pull the plug on the Coupe here when the AMG CLK switched over to the 6.2L V8. I can't remember if they sold one model year of the CLK63 coupe here or not, but I don't think they ever did?

I agree with some points. But then again, unlike recently, the last CLK wasn't really designed with AMG in mind. Besides the CLK-DTM and CLK-Black, AMG didn't really have much say in the designing of it. The E, SL-fl and C, AMG has had a lot of say in it. MB has already proved that they can get pretty close to M3 levels if AMG has a say in it, like ///M has a say at BMW. Seeing as the E-coupe is a variant of C and E, I guess AMG would do a better job, performance wise, than the previous version.

And no, 63 coupe never came here.
